Career in Army for Engineers

If you have missed the chance of entering into army through NDA then doors are not closed for forever. You can join the army even after your engineering and can serve the country with your technical knowledge. There are mainly 3 different ways for men to enter into army after engineering

1)UES (University Entry Scheme):PERMANENT SERVICE COMMISSION TECHNICAL MEN(Un Married)

 Frequency: Once in a year

Notification: Notify in Employment News and leading Daily news Paper Notified by Additional Directorate General Recruiting / AG Branch in May.

Eligibility Criteria: Age between 19 and 25 years as of first day of month in which course is due to commence

Qualification: Pre Final year students of Engineering Degree Course

 Marital Status: Un Married

 Application Procedure: Application to be received by as specified in the notification.

 Likely SSB Date: Jul/Aug during final year

 Date Commencement of Training: Jul at IMA Dehradun

2)TGC (ENGINEERS):PERMANENT SERVICE COMMISSION TECHNICAL MEN

Frequency: Twice a Year

Notification: Notify in Employment News and leading Daily news Paper Notified by Additional Directorate General Recruiting / AG Branch in May/Jun and Nov/Dec

Eligibility Criteria: Age between 20 and 27 years as of first day of month in which course is due to commence

Qualification : BE / B Tech final appearing & degree holders in notified streams of Engineers

Marital Status: Un Married / Married

Application Procedure: Application to be Received by To apply online as per notification & forward applications as given in advertisement

Likely SSB Date: Oct-Nov & Apr-May

Date Commencement of Training: Jan and Jul

Duration of Training: One Year

3)SS (Tech):SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION TECHNICAL MEN

Frequency: Twice a year

Notification: Notify in Employment News and leading Daily news Paper Notified by Additional Directorate General Recruiting / AG Branch in Dec/Jan and Jun / Jul

Eligibility Criteria: Age between 20 to 27 years as on first day of the month in which course is due to commence

Qualification: Engineering Degree in notified discipline

Marital Status: Un Married / Married

Application Procedure: Application to be Received by To apply online & applications to be forwarded as given in advertisement

Likely SSB Date: Nov to Jan for Apr Course and May to July for Oct Course

Date Commencement of Training: Oct and Apr

Duration of Training: 49 Weeks

For women engineers there is only one way to enter into army

SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION TECHNICAL WOMEN(Un Married)

Frequency: Twice a year

Notification: Notify in Employment News and leading Daily news Paper Notified by Additional Directorate General Recruiting / AG Branch in Dec/Jan and Jun / Jul

Eligibility Criteria: Age between 20 and 27 years as on first day of the month in which course is due to commence

Qualification: Engineering Degree in notified discipline

Marital Status: Un Married

Application Procedure: Application to be Received by Feb / Mar and Jul / Aug

Likely SSB Date: Nov to Jan for Apr Course and May to July for Oct Course Date Commencement of Training :Oct and Apr Duration of Training:49 Weeks Besides these there are other ways to get into army like Non-technical entry, UPSC, Non-UPSC but it will be nowhere related to your engineering education. So if you want to build your career in engineering only then these are the only ways else you can choose other ways too.
